Our filly is from the mare MY POPPETTE who won three races from 1,200m to 1,600m. This included the Group 2 Mooney Valley Fillies Classic and Listed VRC Anzac Day Stakes.
She also placed in the Group 2 Edward Manifold Stakes. She’s from the same family as Hong Kong Derby winner PING HAI STAR and Group 1 Australian Guineas winner DELAGO BROM.
WRITTEN TYCOON is one of Australasia’s top leading sires and well sort after by all owners and trainers. He’s consistently in the Top 10 for overall sires.
Our filly is bred on the DANHILL DANCER cross which is the most successful cross by a sire to WRITTEN TYCOON.

SAMMY MCGUREN
Sammy was always going to be a horse trainer as horses have been in her blood since she can remember.
The McGuren’s have established the McGuren Equine Education Centre on a picturesque 50-acre property between Grafton and Lawrence.
While working with other people horses and their problems it made sense for Sammy to take the lead and become a licenced trainer in her own right and Sammy did this over 12 months ago.
Her success speaks for itself and her hands on training methods and being able to get first class track work information from Matty, along with herself riding work, makes the results consistent.
Sammy has 2 wonderful children through her marriage to Matty and they are a true Equine Family.
The McGuren Equine establishment is the best horse education establishment in the business and the whole McGuren family will be invested in the future.
SJ Racing are blessed to have this wonderful family and in particular Sammy as our Grafton based training establishment.
We will continue to grow in this region as Grafton is ideally situated for the Northern Rivers and SEQ Racing, and we welcome the McGuren’s aboard in what we see as a lasting and fruitful partnership.
SAMMY’S ACHIEVEMENTS
Sammy McGuren nee Munro had a successful career as a jockey with 82 winners and over 260 placings. She finished her riding Career to concentrate on starting her family with her husband, leading Jockey Matty McGuren.
Sammy has recently started training horses for SJ Racing and has provided a win with KOHINOOR LUSTRE. Also in her stable is our ‘Women’s Only’ filly, STRAWBERRY LADY who is still to race.
In her short time as a Trainer, she has had 61 starts with 7 wins and 24 placings.
