SJ Racing Weekly Update

Last Sunday we picked up 4 quality yearlings at the Inglis Scone Sales and the response has been absolutely fantastic.

We’ve already sold 100% of the HALLOWED CROWN filly while we have also sold 50% of the PRESS STATEMENT filly.

Our WRITTEN TYCOON filly was the steal of the sale while the DEEP FIELD filly looks an absolute cracker.

That’s testament to the types of fillies we bought this year and we’re confident our great run at Scone will continue on with the four new additions.

On Monday we finally had WITNESS EX hit the track for the first time. She raced at Tamworth and we were more than happy with the run.

She drew a shocking barrier for the race and was snagged back to last giving the leaders around 7 or 8 lengths. She ended up running the fastest 600m, 400m and 200m final sectionals of the race to just finish off the place getters.

Luke’s now looking for her next start after pulling up well. Watch out if she draws a gate next start.

CHARGING CLEAR and QUEEN LEAR both headed out to Denns Park for a quick freshen up after their trips to Grafton. They’ll come back in a fortnight with the intention to racing both over the Grafton Carnival.

CHARMED PRINCESS has pulled up fantastically from her Scone race and will now head to Canterbury on Wednesday. She’ll be super competitive for that race and we’re excited to see her up against some decent city class horses.

TAINTED AFFAIR races at Gosford next Saturday after having a jump out during the week. She’s tracking along nicely this preparation and once she gets a couple of runs under her belt she’ll be ready to win. She’s still on track for the Grafton Guineas in July.

ROCK SONIC got through another week. It was uneventful which is what we like to hear at this stage of his preparation. If he continues on at this rate he’ll be trialling in another 4 weeks or so.

BEAUTY KANAS over in WA at the Ascot stable is doing her work very easy for the level of fitness that she is currently at. She has adapted very well to the routine and environment that she is currently in and is very settled in her work.

I’m heading to WA in a fortnight to see her in the flesh as well as to meet up with another budding young trainer to try and strike a deal with getting horses into his stable.

I’ll keep you posted on that one but if you’re into your AFL footy, you’ll like what we have in store.

Big HORORA VEL finally got  back onto the track again after having a week or so  off due to a cut on his leg. That has finally healed and he’ll be trialing or racing again in about 3 weeks.

QUEEN OF MANHATTAN has been spelling in Qld for the last month and Helen reports that she’s flourishing on the farm. She’s eating everything in sight and has been filling out since she got there.

Finally, we had a new addition to the Newing stable on Thursday night with PRETENTIOUS LOVE joining us for the first time. She was transported down from Clear Summer Lodge where she was born and bred.

“Belle” will start her pre-training next week with Tony in what will be an exciting time for all of her owners.
